Welcome to The Amelia Center’s blog site, hosted on WordPress.com. The Amelia Center is a comprehensive grief counseling center located in Birmingham, Alabama that provides grief counseling services for 1) children affected by a significant death in their lives, and 2) bereaved parents. We are a department of Children’s of Alabama and provide all client services at no cost, through the generosity of clients and members of our community who support this essential service. We are a United Way of Central Alabama partner agency.
We believe that all individuals have the capacity for healing, even the most devastating of losses, and provide the place to grow and heal on their grief journey. We have a very dedicated staff of professionals, whose caring and compassionate support make the journey a little easier and help encourange and find the strength needed to heal.
